In partnership with The Conservation Angler
The Babine River Foundation’s Angler Science Program transforms time on the water into meaningful conservation. Built in partnership with The Conservation Angler, the program equips anglers, guides, and participating lodges—Babine Norlakes Steelhead Camp and Silver Hilton Steelhead Lodge—to collect high-quality biological data on wild steelhead, turning observation into evidence and participation into impact.
British Columbia’s Skeena watershed is home to one of the world’s most productive wild steelhead fisheries. It supports local communities, sustains jobs, and generates real economic value through a catch‑and‑release model that protects the resource. But before these fish even reach the river, they face growing threats, including ocean bycatch and shifting ecological conditions. The critical missing piece is consistent, river‑specific data to track how these pressures are impacting steelhead populations over time.
This is where angler science becomes essential.
Your support directly funds this work. It expands data collection, advances scientific analysis, and helps ensure decisions about wild steelhead are grounded in real evidence. Donate today to protect the future of the Babine River and the fish that depend on it.
